This is the Lake Trasimene in Italy near Perusia. The quatrain must refer to the Punic wars. The place is that of Hannibal's victory in BC218. Could as well be a war in Perusia that opposed Octavius to Antone in BC41. Fr. "Tuant Tedesque sterne & minuse." Tedesque? Sterne? Minuse? Aren't these leaders that were executed? This was translated as meaning the Teutones, but the battle against the Teutones didn't go that far.
